Devil Bug Update Oct 15, 2009

We are pleased to report that the wound is healing very well and a "Genetically Engineered Appligraph" will be applied next Wednesday. This material promotes rapid growth of skin tissue and will speed the process of recovery greatly. She will need one or two of the Appligraphs (at $1800.00 each, yikes) over a six week period. Our insurance will cover up to three of the Appligraphs (thank goodness) so all is proceeding well at this point. Her main issue is the problems associated with not being able to walk on her right foot. That places all the weight bearing loads on her left side and is really messing up her back and hips. Lot's of pain associated with the hip and back issues unfortunately. Although the outlook is good, she still has many months of recovery to go. It looks like she will be "sprung" in the spring at this point and we can resume our travels (hopefully).
