Devil Bug Update for October 21, 2009
Today was a milestone event for Mo in the latest happenings with the Devil Bug saga. She received the first skin graft and the procedure went very well. The process uses a thin layer of genetically grown skin (Apligraft) which is placed over the wound surface, bound in place using a special mesh and Steri-Strips (tape) then covered with gauze pads and more tape. The Apligraft will dissolve into her tissues and will accelerate the growth of epidural layers over the granular tissue that has filled the crater in her foot. We will go to the doctors office in a week for a progress evaluation and in two weeks we will know if another graft is required. The process was not painful for Mo, just uncomfortable since she had to lie on her stomach which aggravated her already painful hip condition. So, if all goes well I will have another update in a week. Stay tuned >>>
