Devil Bug Update for Sept 5, 2009
We are feeling more positive each day about Monette's prospects for recovery from this Devil Bug. The Wound Vac is a bit of a miracle machine as far as we are concerned. It keeps a continuous negative pressure on the wound and removes the "detritus" as it forms in the wound. The dressing is changed every three days and yesterday was the first time we experienced that process. The wound is looking much better than anytime since this ordeal started and some new growth can be seen already. Obviously this is a very good sign and we are hopeful it continues. As the doctors are quick to point out, the risk of losing her foot is not over, but is reduced every day this trend continues. She continues with daily out-patient visits to the hospital for treatment with the antibiotic Vancomycin. That will continue for at least two more weeks and perhaps another month. Thanks again to all of you for your kind thoughts, concerns and prayers for Monette.
