WAHOOOOO, YIPPEE AND CHEERIO MATES!!
Monette has been released by the doctor to discontinue her hospital visits and she can now be fitted for special shoes that will allow her to move about normally. Obviously the wound has not healed to 100% of what it will become, but it is well on it's way and no longer needs wound dressings. The skin covering the wound is about 5% as tough as the original and will eventually achieve about 50% of the original toughness. That will take several more months but she can walk without aids and we just have to pay very close attention to be sure no sores or blisters develop. We will still use the wheelchair for big adventures (such as Walmart) but she can manage unassisted in smaller stores and around the house.
This has been a very trying event in our lives and we are so happy to nearing the end. Our heartiest thanks to all our family and friends whose support and concern has been comforting beyond measure throughout this ordeal.
